More Efficient Nitrogen Fertilizer Improves Productivity with Reduced Handling Time, Improved Application Flexibility

WICHITA, Kan. (Oct. 25, 2017) – Koch Agronomic Services proudly announces increased availability of its SUPERU® fertilizer, providing growers access to more of the trusted fertilizer they’ve come to depend on when protecting their nitrogen investment. The increased capacity will come as part of a $1.3 billion expansion project at the Koch Fertilizer facility in Enid, Oklahoma.

SUPERU fertilizer provides the highest concentration of nitrogen available – 46 percent – in a finished granular fertilizer that incorporates urease and nitrification inhibitors to provide both above- and below-ground protection against all three forms of nitrogen loss – volatilization, denitrification and leaching.

“Our increased production capacity allows us to offer retailers and their customers across a broader geography this flexible, easy-to-use fertilizer,” says Stan Koster, vice president of Koch Agronomic Services. “We believe this innovative solution can help growers better achieve their operational and environmental goals.”

Delivers Unsurpassed Productivity
In one ready-to-use product, SUPERU fertilizer allows for broader and more even spread patterns so applicators and growers can cover more acres in less time and be assured that nitrogen is protected, even when applied to the surface. SUPERU fertilizer helps farmers maximize their yield potential and minimize potential environmental impact.

KAS Director of Agronomy Dr. Greg Schwab notes that SUPERU fertilizer is backed by 25 years of research and hundreds of field trials. “Proven SUPERU helps growers save time and money, resources that can’t be grown in a field,” Schwab says.

Recent field trials on spring wheat in Glyndon, Minnesota, for example, found that SUPERU fertilizer reduced calculated cumulative nitrate leaching, or nitrogen loss to the soil, by 30 percent. In the spring wheat trials, SUPERU fertilizer was found to significantly reduce all three types of nitrogen losses.

That’s an important benefit for Minnesota producer Clark Anderson.

“The weather is something you can’t control on the farm. SUPERU protects you from volatilization, if you don’t get rain, but it also protects from leaching if you get too much rain,” says Anderson, who, along with his brother, farms 2,800 acres of corn, soybeans and hay near Princeton, Minnesota.

WATCH PRODUCER CLARK ANDERSON TALK ABOUT USING SUPERU

Koch will produce SUPERU fertilizer using its proprietary N-TEGRATION™ Technology at the plant in Enid as it does today at its urea plant in Manitoba, Canada, and its specialty plant in St. Louis. N-TEGRATION Technology is a branded technology platform that allows proprietary Koch additives such as AGROTAIN® nitrogen stabilizer to be integrated directly into granular or prilled urea, ensuring uniform distribution throughout each granule.

Research Data Agreement to Further Enhance Digital Tools to Support Farmers’ Efforts  to Efficiently Manage Crop Nutrients

SAN FRANCISCO and WICHITA, Kan. (March 21, 2017) – The Climate Corporation, a subsidiary of Monsanto Company, and Koch Agronomic Services, LLC jointly announced today a research agreement that marks a significant step forward in applying data-driven digital tools to support more efficient nutrient management practices for farmers.

Koch Agronomic Services, which produces and markets a proven and expanding global portfolio of plant performance technologies including AGROTAIN® nitrogen stabilizer and SUPERU® fertilizer, has agreed to provide product research data to The Climate Corporation to use in the development of the data science models that power the company’s industry-leading Climate FieldView™ digital agriculture platform. These advanced models feed Climate’s nitrogen monitoring tools that help farmers build customized management plans for each field to optimize their inputs and maximize productivity.

With the addition of Koch Agronomic Services’ product data, farmers will be able to select the Koch Agronomic Services product they applied in each field in their Climate FieldView account, along with the type of nitrogen fertilizer applied, making Climate’s nitrogen insights even more personalized.

“Farmers are always working to better manage their agricultural inputs, and this agreement reinforces both The Climate Corporation and Koch Agronomic Services’ commitment to enhanced nitrogen efficiency,” said Mike Stern, chief executive officer for The Climate Corporation. “Climate’s data science models ingest millions of data points from multiple sources to help farmers track the level of available nitrogen for a field, and to generate customized management zones within the field, throughout the growing season. Through this agreement, we can build even more robust models to deliver greater value to farmers as they work to manage this important crop nutrient more efficiently.”

In August 2016, The Climate Corporation announced that it would extend its platform to enable other ag innovators to build upon and complement Climate’s digital tools with additional data layers. Through this new agreement with Koch Agronomic Services’, farmers can experience even greater value from the Climate FieldView platform.

“Our goal is to help farmers achieve their production, profitability and environmental goals, and we believe this data sharing agreement provides an additional tool to increase efficiency in agricultural practices,” said Chase Koch, president of Koch Agronomic Services. “We know each field has different nitrogen needs, and we believe adding data on our scientifically-proven enhanced efficiency fertilizer products into the Climate FieldView platform will deliver deeper insights to farmers to help them manage crop fertility.”

Officially launched in 2015, the Climate FieldView™ platform is on more than 100 million acres across the United States, Canada and Brazil, with more than 100,000 U.S. farmers engaging in Climate's digital tools. Backed by the most powerful data science engine and most extensive field research network in the agriculture industry, the Climate FieldView platform delivers customized insights that help farmers make data-driven decisions with confidence to maximize yield potential, improve efficiency and manage risk. In January 2017, The Climate Corporation unveiled the most robust digital agriculture research and development pipeline, to continue providing farmers new digital technologies to help them better understand field variability and customize their agronomic practices to get the most out of every acre.
Koch Agronomic Services product selection within a farmer’s Climate FieldView account is expected for the 2018 growing season. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

No-Till Growers Select AGROTAIN® Stabilizer as Top Product in the Fertility Category for 2014

Wichita, Kan. – No-till growers across the United States once again have selected AGROTAIN® nitrogen stabilizer, by Koch Agronomic Services, LLC, as the No-Till Product of the Year in the fertility category of the No-Till Product of the Year contest.

The award was voted on by the readers of the No-Till Farmer’s Conservation Tillage Guide and was presented today at the 2015 National No-Tillage Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio. This marks the 10th straight year AGROTAIN® stabilizer has been named the top product in this category; no other product has matched this honor.

“We are honored to accept this grower-selected award,” said Ron Restum, Vice President for North America Sales, Koch Agronomic Services, LLC. “AGROTAIN® stabilizer continues to be effective in reducing volatilization and increasing nitrogen efficiency throughout the no-till community, and we are proud to assist these growers as they increase both their yields and their return on investments.”

AGROTAIN® stabilizers can be added to urea or urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) to create enhanced efficiency fertilizers that help reduce the loss of nitrogen due to ammonia volatilization.

For growers who practice no-till farming, ammonia volatilization of surface-applied urea or UAN can be a concern due to increased crop residues and soil moisture. AGROTAIN® stabilizer helps to control volatilization loss by blocking the enzyme urease, allowing more time for nitrogen to be moved below the soil surface and be available to the plants.
