Selecting the Right Protection for Manure Nitrogen Applications

Applying livestock manure to crops is a cost-efficient way to fertilize. Unfortunately, when manure remains untreated, nitrogen content can be susceptible to loss through volatilization, leaching and denitrification. And when nitrogen isn’t available for crops, yield can be impacted.
A nitrogen stabilizer such as AGROTAIN® PLUS SC can help provide peace of mind for growers, knowing this two dual inhibitor stabilizer is designed to protect nitrogen from all three forms of loss. This convenient liquid formulation stays in suspension for more than nine months and easier to pump into induction systems than dry powder.
How it Works:
With a premier urease inhibitor and proven nitrification inhibitor, AGROTAIN PLUS SC helps keep nitrogen in the rootzone for uptake by the crop. Protection against all three forms of nitrogen loss – volatilization, leaching and denitrification – makes it an ideal solution to protect manure or poultry litter fertilizer applications.

AGROTAIN PLUS SC can help improve the nutrient value of manure and ensures nitrogen is readily available for crops. Utilizing a nitrogen stabilizer such as AGROTAIN PLUS SC follows the recommendations of the 4R Nutrient Stewardship Initiative as a grower selects the right source of nitrogen, the right time to apply along with the right rate and placement.
Usage Rate:
AGROTAIN PLUS SC is designed to be used with liquid manure and dry poultry litter.

Manure – 4.68 liters/hectacre
Poultry Litter – 4.68 liters/hectacre

Nitrogen loss can be a serious problem impacting yield potential and return on investment. Depending on the soil type, nitrogen fertilizer is susceptible to losing more than 50% of its nitrogen through ammonia volatilization, denitrification and nitrate leaching.
