Enhanced efficiency fertilizers (EEFs) in the Koch Turf & Ornamental portfolio have been specially developed to provide needed nutrition to turfgrass and ornamental plants. Each product has its own unique characteristics and valued advantages. By tailoring fertilizer programs that incorporate these advanced technologies, you can optimize nutrient efficiency and minimize nitrogen loss.
Controlled-release, coated nutrient sources include the products known as polymer-coated fertilizers. The manufacturing process involves coating a readily available nutrient substrate such as urea or sulfate of potash with a polymer coating.
POLYON® controlled-release fertilizer with its trademarked green color is backed by years of research, and for decades has been the market leader in the turf and ornamental markets. Reactive Layers Coating technology meters out nutrients via diffusion, regulated by soil temperature and coating thickness.
DURATION CR® controlled-release fertilizer relies on a patented and durable polymer-coated technology to gradually and efficiently release nutrients. The result is the consistent metering of nutrition that lasts for weeks, even months, with fewer applications.
Slow-release nitrogen sources, also called “slowly available,” are a part of many turfgrass fertilization programs. They provide greater longevities of available nitrogen than quick-release sources, and are safer to use on turfgrass because of their lower burn potential. This group includes both coated and uncoated sources.
XCU® slow-release fertilizer provides gradual, steady nutritional uptake for up to 10 weeks of plant response. This product has the highest nitrogen content (43%) and lowest sulfur content (4%) of any polymer-coated sulfur-coated urea (PCSCU) on the market.
NUTRALENE® slow-release fertilizer is a methylene urea source with a guaranteed analysis of 40-0-0. This product provides consistent, long-lasting nutrient release for up to 16 weeks and delivers a cost-effective, low-maintenance solution to effectively increase root growth.
NITROFORM® slow-release urea-formaldehyde fertilizer delivers a steady, balanced and dependable source of nitrogen for up to 22 weeks or more. Its exclusive release properties make it one of the safest and long-lasting slow-release sources of nitrogen available.
NITAMIN® targeted foliar nitrogen is a patented, liquid nutrient source specifically designed for foliar applications in turfgrass, row crops, vegetables and fruits. The high nitrogen content—yet lower salt index than a straight urea solution—adds that critical margin of performance, efficiency and safety.
Stabilized nitrogen fertilizers work by delaying the conversion of nitrogen to forms that can be more readily lost to the environment through leaching, denitrification and volatilization. This delay allows time for rainfall or precipitation to move the urea into the soil where it is less prone to volatilization, and/or retains nitrogen in the plant/soil system longer. There are two main categories: urease inhibitors and nitrification inhibitors.
UMAXX® stabilized nitrogen fertilizer is a urea-based product containing both urease and nitrification inhibitors. This product provides protection against all three forms of nitrogen loss - volatilization, denitrification and leaching.
UFLEXX® stabilized nitrogen fertilizer is specially formulated for the professional lawn care and landscape markets. This unique product helps to protect against all three forms of loss - volatilization, denitrification and leaching - allowing time for nitrogen to move into the root zone and stay there longer.
HYDREXX® professional nitrogen stabilizer is an innovative additive that gives turfgrass professionals complete control of their turfgrass programs. It allows for the stabilization of urea-based nitrogen sources and the management of rates to efficiently provide the needed plant response from a few weeks to months per application.
