Research Shows CENTURO Nitrogen Stabilizer Protects Your UAN Investment

PROVEN PROTECTION

With more than a decade of research findings, CENTURO™ nitrogen stabilizer has proven to protect against nitrogen loss due to or via denitrification and leaching resulting in improved yields. By slowing the conversion to nitrate, CENTURO holds the applied nitrogen in the ammonium form three times longer than without an inhibitor.1

"What that means to growers is that your nitrogen investment is working longer and harder for you," said Tim Laatsch, technical agronomy manager for Koch Agronomic Services. "The extended window of protection gives growers peace of mind that their nitrogen investment is available for plant uptake, translating to maximized yields and a boost to nitrogen use efficiency by up to 25 percent."2

In a 2019 field trial on corn in Michigan, UAN treated with CENTURO yielded 28 bushels per acre more than with untreated UAN.3

CORN YIELD BENEFIT WITH CENTURO IN UAN

Updated findings have also provided new recommended usage rates for CENTURO in UAN. A rate of 1.5 gallons per ton of UAN can now be used with most pre-plant, at plant, pre-emergent or post-emergent application. Those areas with a history of greater leaching and denitrification losses and applications made more than 30 days prior to planting should use 2.5 gallons per ton of UAN.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS FOR RETAILERS

With the patented active ingredient Pronitridine, CENTURO offers unique storage and handling benefits for operational efficiencies.

  • True Liquid Solution – The stable and nonvolatile formulation is easy to transport, store and pump into UAN – with no need for recirculation.
  • Flexible Storage Options – CENTURO’s formulation doesn’t freeze as long as temperatures remain above -9 degrees Fahrenheit (-23 degrees Celsius).
  • Noncorrosive Formula – CENTURO is 100 percent noncorrosive to the metals used with UAN and anhydrous ammonia, making it easy to handle, reducing downtime and the potential for equipment damage.
  • Tank-Mix Compatibility – CENTURO offers additional time savings by being tank-mix compatible with many crop protection chemicals.4

From highly effective performance results in the field to unequaled flexibility, CENTURO delivers next-generation nitrogen protection in an easy-to-handle solution. To learn more about CENTURO, download the tech sheet, contact your KAS sales rep or visit your local retailer.

The hard fact is that there are things on your operation that are out of your control. Spring rains and soil temperature both adversely impact your crop’s overall yield potential. But another fact is just as powerful – research has proven that the technology built into nitrification inhibitors can protect your UAN investment and your overall profitability.
